Medicare health plans are offered by private insurance companies who work in cooperation with Medicare. Medical expenses are usually lower with these programs and they offer additional perks as well like free membership at local gyms. There are many companies today offering various Medicare health plans that work like traditional health plans in that they’ll be PPO, HMO, or PFFS. Listed here is a look at a few of the popular plan providers.

Aetna Medicare plans are available as HMOs that need you to use Aetna providers, or PPOs and PFFS that allow you to choose your own doctor. Aetna has over 100 years experience in the insurance industry and is one of the largest providers in the U.S. Their insurance plans offer you fixed fees for services and flat copays that may be as low as $0. They offer useful perks like gym memberships.

Kaiser Medicare is limited to residents living in states with Kaiser Permanente medical facilities. Unless it is for emergency care, you have to use Kaiser doctors, pharmacies, labs, x-ray facilities, and hospitals in order to receive coverage for treatment. The big perk with their Medicare health plans is since all of your medical services are provided by Kaiser; your medical records are consolidated into one place and are accessible online by you and any Kaiser healthcare provider taking care of you.

CIGNA is another big name in the insurance industry. CIGNA Medicare health plans are PFFS except for the state of Arizona where an HMO is available. PFFS stands for private fee for service. These plans allow you the freedom of choosing any doctor you want and paying a set copay as long as the doctor agrees to it. The plans are available in four levels of coverage.

Humana Medicare health plans can be found in HMO, PFFS, and PPO versions. They cover doctor visits, hospitalizations, prescription drugs, vision, and hearing for a flat copay. Humana combines many perks with its plans that include an online health management center, online account management, free gym memberships and case management.

To qualify for enrollment in one of these Medicare health plans, you must be eligible to receive Medicare. This means you must be 65 or older and have worked for at least ten years in Medicare-covered employment. You may also qualify if you’re under 65 years of age and have specific disabilities. You can travel to or call your local Social Security office and find out if you qualify and when your coverage will commence. An individual will be enrolled in Medicare, you can sign up with a Medicare health plan during the open enrollment period at the end of the year.

Medicare health plans provide coverage for various parts of the Medicare program. Medicare A helps cover expenses incurred during hospitalization and in a skilled nursing facility. Hospice and home healthcare are also included. Medicare part B provides coverage for outpatient care and doctor’s visits. It also pays for services like physical therapy and occupational therapy. Medicare part C includes the various Medicare health plans offered by private insurance companies. Medicare part D is drug coverage and it is available from private insurance companies.

The advantages and costs of Medicare health plans vary among providers and can even differ among geographic places with similar provider. You should verify your options carefully so you make a sensible decision. Also take into account your medical condition and consider the number and cost of your prescriptions and expected medical treatments against the degree of insurance policy coverage you choose so you get the best care at an affordable price.

Guide to Accident Health Insurance Plans in the United States

Accident health insurance plans are attracting a lot of attention in the supplemental accident coverage market because it’s so practical. This type of personal injury insurance plan falls into the indemnity category rather then the insurance category. Indemnity’s compensate you for damage, loss, or injury in cash payments to you directly or the health care provider. These plans are guarantee issue and require no health questions when enrolling. Americans who have this clever type of accident plan receive benefits with any doctor, emergency room hospital, or urgent care type facility. Members can choose a benefit amount (policy face value) of $2,500, $5,000, $7,500, or $10,000. These principal sum benefits are payed per accident (per injury). Typical deductible (deductible is the dollar amount person must pay before insurance company pays) is $100 dollars and all other hospital bills are payed up to the policy max. If someone has the $10,000 benefit accident plan and gets injured, resulting into a a $10,000 dollar ACL knee surgery, it could potentially only cost the member $100 dollars out of pocket. Member can also choose any surgeon for the procedure which is comforting.

Personal accident insurance are membership plans that have monthly dues. These association benefits clearly state they are not insurance but a type of accident medical expense plan. Coverage is for bodily injuries and not disease or sickness. Emergency room coverage is the core focus. Other names for this type of plan include supplemental accident coverage, emergency room insurance, accident medical expense benefit, accident health insurance plan, 24 hour accident coverage, and accident medical coverage. Anyone who’s had a high deductible insurance plan knows that a lot of bills come from the emergency room.

Association based membership benefits isn’t anything new. The main benefit to these plans are affordable monthly dues, everyone qualifies, and benefits are paid in conjunction with any licensed medical care facility or doctor. The applications don’t have any health questions during enrollment but automatic acceptance is only up to age 64 or 70.

Everyone being able to qualify for a personal accident insurance plan is a good thing. Flexibility for members to choose any doctors office, medical clinic, or hospital emergency room makes sense because this is a type of accidental injury policy. When I was researching these plans and gathering all the sales brochures, having the ability to choose any doctor, clinic, or hospital ER was consistent and true. The accident medical coverage usually has a $100 dollar deductible and a per member coverage amount of $2,500, $5,000, $7,500, or $10,000. Plans pay part of the bills you are charged at the doctor, hospital, ER, up to the maximum benefit chosen per covered injury. Another way to phrase that is a personal injury insurance plan pays for all bodily injuries from a accident, less the $100 deductible, up to the maximum benefit of $2,500, $5,000, $7,500, or $10,000.

In most circumstances these plans pay accidental injury benefits. Except for injuries a member sustains while under the influence of drugs / alcohol, during act of war, or if also covered on workers compensation. These are standard rules for just about any health insurance product. Injury benefits are payed to members per incident or per injury. During coverage, each accident is treated as a new event with new benefit payments, but subject to another $100 dollar deductible. Benefits are paid directly to members or the health care provider. Some plans only pay the health care provider, and other plans clearly state they pay the member directly. You’ll have to review the policy to see how payment is handled.

Specific benefits covered by this type of personal injury insurance plan include: doctors fee for surgery (inpatient or outpatient), ambulance expenses, doctors visits, hospital emergency room care, anesthesia services, prescription drugs, nurse expenses, hospital confinement, operating room, laboratory tests, x-rays, MRI’s, dental treatment to sound natural teeth, physical therapy, hospital room and board.

During my research of checking out dozens of these accident insurance plans it was interesting to find out that a lot of these plans are underwritten by Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Company. This means that Guarantee Trust Life is “backing” this type of personal accident coverage and that hundreds of health insurance firms are marketing the plans for them. So there are a lot of different agencies selling these plans but the trail leads back to one main insurance company. Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Company has been around for 70 plus years and is located at 1275 Milwaukee Ave. Glenview, Illinois 60025. Of all the different firms selling these plans the best rates I’ve found so far is the following.

For individuals, a $5,000 benefit plan is around $22 a month, $7,500 benefit is $28 a month, and a $10,000 is $34 dollars a month. For families, $5,000 benefit is $35 a month, $7,500 is $41 a month, and $10,000 is $47 dollars a month. The $10,000 accident benefit plan at $47 dollars a month includes the entire family. Even if the family has six members, it’s still $47 a month total. Bigger the family, the more that $47 a month membership stretches. Anyway you look at it, that is a lot of useful real world coverage for that price.

Personal accident insurance plans are sold by some health insurance agents to compliment their clients HDHP (High Deductible Health Plan). Due to medical inflation and the constant rate increases from insurance companies, typical deductibles these days are $5,000 and $10,000. Deductible is the dollar amount a covered person must pay before the health insurance policy kicks in. This basically means the insured has to come up with that $5,000 or $10,000 dollars before the policy pays anything. This is where the common complaint that “my health insurance plan doesn’t pay anything” comes from. What people are saying is that when they rush to the emergency room from a accidental injury, odds are they will be paying that deductible out of pocket on top of the expensive premiums every month. It’s for this reason that emergency room insurance plans offset that deductible exposure. Plans help pay the expenses associated with accidents which is realistic. This upfront accident coverage can pay off that huge deductible. In short, these accident insurance policies fill in the gaps perfect with the catastrophic high deductible plans being offered in the United States. Picking up a accident plan as a “stand alone” supplement is equally as smart.

There is a lot of controversy surrounding the latest health care reform bill that was just passed. The benefit of this legislation is that individual health insurance plans will be provided at low cost to many of the uninsured Americans. There are millions of uninsured people in the US and this plan would allow them to have access to individual health insurance plans at an affordable cost. Like most new laws, this bill comes with some negatives. This bill requires everyone to have insurance whether they elect to have it or not. All uninsured people will face an annual fine as mandated by law.

There are many reasons why many Americans are not enrolled in individual health insurance plans. One of the primary reasons is the cost. Most people who are insured get their coverage through their employer’s group plan. They employer pays a great portion of the premium while the employee is responsible for the remainder. If you are unemployed or self employed, you don’t have access to an employers group plan, therefore you are responsible for the entire premium which is very costly on a monthly basis. Those who live paycheck to paycheck can find it difficult to add individual health insurance plans to their budget. Being forced to have insurance or pay a fine puts a strain on the family budget.

Individual health insurance plans will differ based upon individual needs. Before you are forced to accept a state plan you should start researching various insurance plans now. Plans have different levels of coverages, deductibles, premiums, and co pays. If you are basing your comparison on price, be sure you are comparing similar plans. Generally, you’ll pay more for a plan with low deductibles, co pays, and out of pocket maximums. If you have a condition that requires frequent office visits and medication, you might want a plan with lower deductibles and co pays. Conversely, if you only go to the doctor annually for check-ups, a cheaper plan with lower coverage might suit you. You will need to research various individual health insurance plans and determine which one fits your needs at an affordable rate.

Changes to the health care plan in America are coming. Now is the time to start searching individual health insurance plans before you are forced into a state plan. It’s possible that you will find a plan that is cheaper and provides more coverage than the state plan. You can start your research by searching for insurance providers online. The process is really simple and only takes a few minutes to provide your information. The provider uses your information to provide you with a reliable quote. By searching now, you know what coverage you have and how much it will cost. Regardless of your financial situation, you will be required to pay one way or another.

Today USA people find it harder and harder to cope with the ever growing medical expenses and health care costs. Of course, there are many insurance plans available on the market, but not everybody can really afford to pay high premiums on those plans. Some people call the situation on the medical service market a catastrophic health crisis. But, in this post we will take a look at the kind of high deductible health insurance plan, which allows people to afford moderate size or even minimal size of premiums and still have their medical needs covered. We will take a look at some pros and cons options and will try to figure out how one can benefit from this kind of medical insurance.

Now, let us start with the definition of what the word deductible means in the high deductible health insurance context. A deductible is the amount of money you pay covering your own medical expenses before your insurance company steps in and starts to cover your health care needs with their funds. Basically, many insurance companies do not cover any medical expenses, including such things as prescription drugs or emergency services, until you pay down and use up your deductible. So, in order to benefit from that insurance plan you have to have your savings on hands in the amount stated by your high deductible health insurance plan. So, you may wonder: what good is this kind of insurance if I still have to pay for my medical needs from my own pocket? Well, the trick is this: the higher is your deductible, the smaller monthly premiums you pay. So, this makes high deductible health insurance more affordable, than other kinds of plans. That is the major benefit of resorting to the high deductible health insurance plan. You simply get a chance of cutting down your monthly expenses and still have certain medical insurance protection.

But, of course, this kind of high deductible health insurance plan requires a person to be organized and plan his or her deductible expenses from ahead of time. That is why most high deductible health insurance plans work well together with HSA (Health savings accounts). These special accounts allow people to save there enough to cover their deductibles. Besides, you can benefit from the high deductible health insurance HSA compatible plan, because this account allows people to draw money out for medical needs tax free. And, people over 65 years old are allowed to draw money from their health saving accounts tax free, using them for any purpose they want.

However, to find this high health insurance plan most suiting to person’s medical needs, one has to consider certain things, such as current or past health conditions. People with severe health problems might need more extended medical coverage and more expensive one, so high insurance plan may not work well in this case. But, if you lead a healthy lifestyle and have no current or past medical conditions, than a high deductible plan covering your major medical needs would also help you to save on your health care service costs and cut down your high monthly premiums by consenting to go with higher deductibles.

Today, there is a record amount of people trying to find affordable health insurance. With health care costs continually getting higher, and no end in sight. Most people think that its hopeless. If you are serious about finding yourself good and inexpensive health insurance for yourself and your family. Keep reading because I’m going to give you some very effective ways to help you find low cost healthcare.

For the majority of Americans, we get our coverage from our employers group plan, or we know a family member like a mom or dad that includes us in their policy. But for a slim amount of us, we have to find individual plans to cover us and our family, outside of those options.

If you are in this category I wouldn’t worry.

There are many types of health insurance plans you can buy. The key is to be careful about which policy you get. Just because one has an affordable premium doesn’t mean it’s the one you should get.

One of the most popular individual health insurance plans is called a HMO, or Health Maintenance Organization plan.

HMO’s are a form of prepaid health plan. What you do is pay a monthly premium in return for specified facilities and doctors. Usually, there all-inclusive plans that include emergency visits, x-rays, certain specialists, blood work, yearly physicals etc.

Extra benefits like medicines, or nightly stays are usually not covered. And in some cases if you have a health problem that’s abnormal they might recommend you to see an outside specialist, which can run you an extra couple hundred dollars. Not much, but kind of annoying…

Now that you know that HMO’s are one of the best types of affordable health insurance plans, how do you sift and sort through all of them and pick the right one?

Well, with the advent of technology the most time-effective thing you can do is to go through a health quote website that can scan all the top insures in the country and present you with all the features, side-by-side.

So all you have to do is go in and find the policy that is most fitting to your needs. No sorting through brochures, talking to reps and playing phone tag with customer service…

Finding an individual health policy that is low-cost shouldn’t be a 7 day chore. By using effective websites on the internet you should be able to find a policy today that fits all your needs and doesn’t kill your pocket book.

As a business owner, it is your responsibility to hire the best employees and take concrete steps that will be beneficial for your employees so they remain productive and your business grows. In the UK, a large number of corporations choose to provide corporate healthcare insurance as part of benefits package to their employees. These days, most of the young people are in fact looking for companies that offer this benefit because corporate healthcare insurance is not just a benefit, but a life saver.

In order to ensure that employees remain productive in the company, a large number of employers offer certain incentives such as monthly credit allowance, health insurance, car transport and a number of other things. But, out of all these, health insurance remains the most desired and the most attractive benefits of all. By having a corporate healthcare plan in the UK, an employee is able to take care of his medical needs and also those of his family’s without having to worry about huge medical bills and rising health care costs.

A corporate health insurance plan shares the financial risk of medical related expenses among the members of the group or the employees. These risks are shared under one contract by all those who contribute into a fund or pool. When employers have corporate insurance plans in place for their employees, any employees who suffers illnesses or requires medical services is compensated financially by the plan. However, there are certain terms laid out in the contract that needs to be followed. Most corporate health plans provide coverage for family members of employees as well.

Insuring every member in the company with different medical insurance packages can become really expensive and for this reason, it is a good idea to buy corporate healthcare plan. There are many benefits of having this kind of plan. Some of the major benefits for the employees include:

- It is cost effective, much cheaper than having an individual health insurance plan

- In a corporate health insurance plan, the amount of premium per head will be lower and will be affordable by everyone.

- Another major advantage to the employees is that corporate medical insurance plans can be tailored to their needs. For example, if the employees need specific coverage such as dental coverage, they can opt for a plan that provides dental coverage. On the other hand, if the employees do not want coverage for accidents, they can choose not to have one.

- Moreover, depending on the needs and requirements of the employees, there are options in the plans which can be chosen. The employees don’t have to pay for services that they do not need. This plan allows them to choose only what they need and pay a monthly premium for that.

There are also a number of benefits for the employers. These include:

- Provides a competitive edge in the job market which helps attract and also retain good employees. This also helps minimise costs associated with high employee turnover.
- Gives access to health insurance at an affordable rate. This kind of coverage is cheaper than individual coverage. These plans do not discriminate and offers all the members of the group the same coverage.
- Offers one of the most cost effective ways to protect the health and safety of employees.
- Premiums which are paid by the employer is tax deductible.

Popular Corporate Healthcare Plans in the UK

Two of the popular ones include the NCD option and the Six Week Option. In the NCD option, the employees are told about the discount level that their employer will be providing. Then, the employees can decide whether or not they want to opt for the medical insurance plan.

The Six Week Option provides advantage for a number of services. These include out-patient treatment, in-patient treatment, day-patient treatment and surgical procedures. Under this option, these services will only be provided if the NHS has failed to provide these treatments within a period of six weeks from when the application for the treatment was made. However, emergency treatments are not covered under the policy.

Catastrophic health insurance coverage reduces rates by covering major medical expenses at extremely affordable premiums. Most large health insurers such as Blue Cross, Aetna, UnitedHealthCare, Cigna and Assurant offer this type of coverage for their individual and family plans. Also, short-term temporary plans tend to feature catastrophic benefits instead of routine medical expenses.

Typically, catastrophic health insurance policies provide coverage for inpatient and outpatient hospital expenses, emergency room charges, anesthesia, X-rays and lab tests, surgical expenses and professional fees of doctors, surgeons and other medical providers. Occasionally, preventive benefits will be provided. However, most catastrophic plans do not pay for office visit and prescriptions. Occasionally, limited office visit benefits may be covered, but a deductible will probably apply.

A “High Deductible Health Plan” (HDHP) is another form of catastrophic coverage. An HDHP is an inexpensive health care plan that typically does not pay for the first several thousand dollars of medical expenses. However, after those expenses have been paid (your deductible), the policy pays 80%-100% of remaining expenses. HDHP plans are required if you are going to open up a Health Savings Account (HSA). However, you are also able to take out an HDHP without using the HSA feature.

HSAs are affordable alternatives to traditional health care designed to use tax-deductible funds to pay for eligible medical, dental and vision expenses. This type of account allows consumers to have more control over how they spend their health care dollars. Rates also are lower than traditional medical insurance plans, allowing for additional funds to be deposited into the HSA Account. Self-employed individuals and families often purchase HSAs to reduce costs and take advantage of the tax benefits. Any funds that are not used by the end of the calender year can be rolled over to the next year.

Catastrophic health insurance plans are ideal options when you are primarily concerned with covering major expenses and are willing to pay a relatively high amount of out-of-pocket money for these types of claims. Generally, over time, the money saved by purchasing these types of plans more than offsets your out-of-pocket losses. Of course, you can lower the deductible on a catastrophic plan to reduce the rate that you pay. Many insurers will offer deductibles as low as $500.

High deductible plans are growing in popularity as premiums health care premiums continue to rise. Although this type of coverage does not meet every person’s needs, as national health care reform forces rates up, catastrophic health insurance, if available, will continue to be a very popular choice. If future state health insurance exchanges do not offer high-deductible plans, policies will be able to be purchased outside of the Exchanges.
